Synopsis

The novel "Rupununi: Dias de Revolta" is a book masterfully written by Carlos Borges, who, as a source of inspiration, used the research of his doctoral thesis and interviews with people who had some participation in the episode. The story of the book is based on facts that occurred in the Republic of Guyana in late 1968 and early 1969, when there was the so-called “Rupununi Revolt” planned by a group of farmers in the region, supported by Venezuela. It's a book that holds the reader's attention from beginning to end. In its pages inhabit characters with strong personality; blacks, Indians and whites live together not always harmoniously; where passions flourish and conflicts proliferate.

Author Biography

Carlos Alberto Borges da Silva, Roraima State University/UERR

Possui graduação em Ciências Sociais pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas - UNICAMP - (1992), mestrado em Antropologia Social pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas - UNICAMP - (1994), doutorado em Ciências Sociais pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas - UNICAMP - (2006) e pós -doutorado em Saúde Pública pela Universidade de São Paulo -USP e pelo ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa - IUL, Portugal, em 2011 e 2012. Atualmente é professor da Universidade Estadual de Roraima - UERR, da Faculdade Catedral de Ensino Superio e pesquisador antropólogo no Instituto de Amparo à Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação - IACTI -, em Roraima. Tem experiência na área de Antropologia, com ênfase em Antropologia Urbana, Populações Afro-Brasileiras, Antropologia das terapêuticas de cura sóciomágica e estudos sobre violência.
